Yara Nakahanda Monteiro

Yara Nakahanda Monteiro’s debut novel Essa Dama Bate Bué! (2018) has been translated into several languages. For her poetry collection Memórias, Aparições, Arritmias, she was awarded the Portuguese “Glória de Sant’Anna Literature Prize” in 2022. Monteiro is also the co-author of two short films on Angolan-Portuguese colonial history, produces podcasts and is a guest lecturer on feminism and Afro-European identities.
